How to remove urine stains from wool carpet without a wet vacuum.

1.  BLOT (do not rub) the spot with an absorbent white cotton towel to remove as much of the urine as possible.  It is helpful to stand on the towel after the majority of the urine has been blotted up.

2. When you can no longer absorb any more urine into your towel, apply club soda (if you don’t have any club soda, cool water may be used) to the affected area using a spray bottle.  Immediately after applying the club soda, BLOT (do not rub) the spot with a clean absorbent white cotton towel.  Repeat this procedure 3 or 4 times to flush as much urine from the carpet as possible.  Please be careful not to over wet the carpet.

3. Moisten an absorbent white cotton towel with a WoolSafe approved spot cleaner and gently BLOT (do not rub) the carpet surface where the accident occurred.

4. Perform a final blotting of the area by placing a clean absorbent white cotton towel over the affected area and standing on it.

5. Sprinkle absorb-it over the affected area.  Cover an additional 2 inches of area around the urine deposit with the absorb-it. Gently press the absorb-it into the affected area.

6. Allow the absorb-it to remain undisturbed overnight.

7. When dry, thoroughly vacuum the area to remove all of the absorb-it. If any discoloration remains, consult with your Certified Wool Care Specialist as soon as possible.

This procedure can be effective when dealing with small urine spots (no larger than 4” in diameter) and territorial markings on the carpet.

If it is a larger urine deposit, or if you believe that the urine has penetrated into the carpet backing and pad, professional help may be necessary.  Give us a call at 949.733.9883.
