How to remove powder stains from wool carpet.

Powder spills would include copy machine toner, fireplace soot, planter soil, makeup powder and similar non-liquid spills.  Do not add liquid! Adding a liquid of any type can cause a small spot to spread and become a permanent stain.

1. Gently vacuum up the spill as soon as possible, using a crevice tool.  Be careful to work from the outside of the spot toward the center, so you don’t spread the spot.

2. If you have a dry absorbent carpet cleaning product (such as Host or Capture), apply the product according to the package directions and leave overnight.

3. Remove the dry absorbent carpet cleaning product by vacuuming.   Any remaining residue should be left to professional cleaning.  Do not add liquid! Adding a liquid of any type can cause a small spot to spread and become a permanent stain.

  IMPORTANT!
ALWAYS read and follow the care instructions and any warnings provided by the carpet manufacturer.  Wool carpet with certain dyes/finishes may require special treatment.  If in doubt, contact SHOWCASE CARPET CLEANERS for advice or service first.  NEVER PROCEED with any stain removal without knowing the exact nature of the stain involved.  NEVER USE any retail product to remove stains from your wool carpet without seeking the advice of the manufacturer or you could void your warranty. The information contained in this spotting guide is provided without any guarantee or warranty as to results.
